FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is your fee?

Do you offer a sliding scale?

My fee for Individual Therapy is $180 for a 50-minute session.

I believe that therapy should be accessible to everybody; for this reason, I do offer a few spots a week at reduced fees (based on financial needs). At the moment, however, I do not have any openings for sliding-scale appointments.

Do you accept insurance?

Are you seeing clients in person?

How often will I see you?

I do not bill insurance companies directly. However, I will provide you with a receipt for our session that can be submitted for reimbursement. Most insurance providers cover my designation (Master of Social Work / Registered Social Worker). Check with your plan directly to verify your coverage.

No. I see clients on a secure video platform (Zoom). I also provide therapy over the phone if that feels more aligned with your preferences.

I typically prefer seeing clients once a week or every other week depending on the client's comfort level with the therapeutic process. Seeing each other frequently allows for our work to move along at a good pace. But this can be discussed and negotiated according to your needs, financial resources, and schedule.

Do you work with couples or children?

I do NOT see couples or children. I only work with adult individuals.

How will I know if you are the right therapist for me?

This is a crucial question and there are a few ways to figure out the answer. The first one is to go through this website and learn a little more about my training and areas of focus. See if they resonate with what you would like to work on. The second way is to have a free 15-minute consultation so you can see how you feel when you are together. The third way is to have one or two sessions and reflect on what came up for you after the sessions. If you feel like your emotions shifted somehow or that you were able to reframe some thoughts or have insights about your life, this is a very good indication that we are a good match. I am also very open to discuss and understand what I can do to support you in feeling more comfortable and safe when we are working together.

Can therapy really help me?

Therapy offers support, validation, coping skills, and strategies to help us shift our perspective and behaviors. Therapists offer psychoeducation, feedback, and even ask hard questions. This process helps us improve our ability to manage difficult emotions and situations and feel more self-reliant. In therapy, client and therapist co-create a space that is safe, non-judgmental, and where the client can express themselves authentically and feel deeply understood. Therapy can, therefore, be profoundly healing and transformative.

What am I going to work on in therapy?

This depends on your goals and goals for therapy can change over time. I will keep checking with you to see if we are going in the right direction. But here are some areas that are fairly common during my work with clients:

Areas of work - 4
Areas of work - 3
Areas of work - 1
Areas of work - 2
